I know how it is, the burn out is real, the pandemic is real, the mental exhaustion is hella real. We all go through it. It’s hard to be motivated when you low-key just don’t feel like doing the ish right now! I know girl I get it. That’s why I’m here to help you pull yourself back up and make that ish happen anyway. There are many reasons that you lose your motivation especially with these last couple of years thrown into the game. Mental health has been at the forefront of everything that I do. If you feel like you need to pause for the cause listen to your body and do what’s healthy for you.
All I ask is that you don’t stay down for too long because depression is real sneaky and can sink in without a moments notice. This is why I’m up blowing up your eyes with these chatty words. I have 8 ways that you can get your motivation back. They are always my go-to when I start to feel like I’m losing motivation.
1. Clean your surroundings. This motivates you to want to do any and everything you desire. It’s a way to declutter your mind and will boost your mood instantly. Your atmosphere truly reflects who you desire to be.
2. Bring focus back by listening to a motivational podcast. I can’t stress this enough. Whenever I start to feel down, I always find a podcast that will get me to “yaaaaaassss girrrrll-ing” quick fast and in a hurry. I also do the same by looking at motivational YouTube videos and listening to inspirational music.
3. Set a vibe when you organize your goals. Make it fun or just soothing. I like to burn scented candles and listen to lo-fi music and organize my goals then start to take immediate action. Setting a vibe is everything and once I get the mood right yes hunnnnty it's go time. It's very similar to making love so let me hush and just move on.
4. Write your goals down on paper. When you write your goals down you have a higher success rate of achieving that goal because it’s now made it to a physical aspect of your reality. Not only do you want to write your goals down but put a due date by that goal and work everyday at achieving what you have written down.
5. Get Outside. I can’t stress this enough. Go outside and get into nature. I get so motivated and feel like it’s time to get things done once I go outside and get me a little Vitamin D. Every day I take a walk around my neighborhood mid-day because it gives me that time to pause, breathe and reconnect.
6. Exercise. Move that body baby. Yes Sis! It’s time, get up and move that magnificent body. Exercising releases endorphins. That’s what gives you that feeling of Euphoria. Grab a workout buddy if you must or join a challenge on YouTube. It’s always a challenge going on somewhere. You want to get the blood to pumping. It helps release stress and may I add I always feel like not one thing or person can get in the way of me achieving my goals after my workout.
7. Change your circle of friends. I know this one may touch a nerve or two but the truth of the matter is you may need to change your inner circle. If your mindsets are not aligned, meaning your friends are not like minded and still doing the same ish y’all did 1-5 years ago girl what are you waiting on! You are the sum of the 5 people you hang around. If you don’t have anyone else to hang around join a podcast or follow someone on YouTube that you would like to be friends with. Take this seriously, this is not a joke. Sometimes you may not be able to find your tribe right away. That’s perfectly fine for now. It’s ok to be a lone wolf until you connect with a tribe that is headed in the same direction that you’re going.
8. Take a moment to celebrate your small wins. Take yourself out for a nice dinner, a massage or pop that champagne bottle baaaaaaaeeee-BY! I get that you're working hard but enjoy life.
